Governor of Ebonyi State Fires Bursar, And Suspended Two ASUU Chairman
The crisis between Ebonyi State University (EBSU) Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and The State Government in Ebonyi State is tolling high as the effect of the recent indefinite strike that was held by ASUU chapter in Ebsu has just resulted in urgent suspension and sack of Ebsu Bursar.
The State Governor, Engnr. Dave Umahi Nweze, who was speaking during a ‘phone-in-programme’ on Wednesday in Abakaliki, said that both union leaders misinformed lecturers in the university on what transpired at the meeting they held with him on Monday over the strike they embarked upon.
Prof. Ndubuisi Idenyi and His Predecessor, Prof. Emeka Nwakpor, was suspended by the governor as a result of what he termed as ‘Alleged Cases of Gross Misconduct’.
The ASUU members are ready for negotiation between the State Governments as regards to the indefinite strike in Ebonyi State University and also it would be recalled that lecturers in EBSU embarked on the strike this week to protest the insensitivity of the State Government to the plight of the Academic Staff.
EBSU ASUU Chairman Suspended – Reason for This Suspension
The Suspension Of ASUU Chairman EBSU Chapter, Prof. Ndubuisi Idenyi and his predecessor, Prof. Emeka Nwakpor are suspended by Umahi with a cogent reasons which may not be publicized by the news agents. According to egnr. Dave, “They politicalised the strike by misinforming the lecturers which is detrimental to the students.
The State Governor, Engnr. Dave, also went further to announced the termination of the appointment of the school’s Bursar, Mr Chris Ngwuta with immediate effect.
